Resilience

Imagine. There is a room. A big dark room. Inside it, is you. Trapped, tired and helpless. You have already given up any hope of escaping and you begin to wonder, “God, is this where I die ?”.

You sit down in one corner and begin to recollect glimpses from your past. A friend that you never made. A question that you never asked. An expression you never showed. A path you never walked upon. All that rage building up inside you for a life never lived. You get up, tell yourself this is not the way it’s going down. You begin to search the room. Trying to touch a lose spot, a way out ! Its completely dark and all you can do is feel every inch of the room. Yougo through your pockets trying to find something useful. What you come up with is a lighter. You remember how all your friends always told you to stop smoking. To give up this slow path towards death. Did they know or did you know that this lighter may be the only thing you’ve got as a chance, as a hope for survival tonight.

You light it up, take a look around. You don’t believe your eyes in the dim light. It’s a small window a little high up on the wall. All you have to do is reach to it somehow and make your escape..

Sometimes, the solution or a way out of a problem is often just around the corner. The problem with us is that we give up too easily.”

Thinking nothing can be done or we have lost. If you believe in a higher power, always push yourself more and more towards a solution rather than surrendering to it. Keep looking for an alternative, if that’s a blur, think what best you can make out of the given situation. Never let negativity affect your optimism. As sometime soptimistic approach is all we’ve got. If you can’t see an obvious out come, create one. Resilience is all about picking up all the positives from the most negative a situation, adapting and improvising so the result is in your favour.

It’s a cognitive process, developed with time and practise but once you have achieved that attitude that even a broken clock is right twice in a day, you will begin to ask yourself is anything really unachievable or beyond reach. When you encounter a problem, rather than looking at what drastic ill-effects it can do, try and wonder what you can make out of the things still in reach to make the problem fade if not terminated completely. A chant that failure does not exist and even the stars are achievable will work wonders for you. Believe that it will pass, how it passes is in your hands.

They say palmistry can tell us about our future. It tells us whether our dreams will come true or not. Tell me, do people who not have hands never made a future ? Who did they refer to before going ahead with a profitable venture. It was their resilient mind that pushed them along, telling them all the way that they are no different from others, that if they give their best with all they have, then it will be achieved.

No matter who, what or where you are. The biggest strength you have in any situation is your willingness to move on. The ability to look above the hurdle, at the clear path forward.

Know your strengths, your limitations, be practical and never say no ! The world is yours ! God Speed !
